Weekly worship: For the winter season we will be moving our Wednesday evening worship back to 5:30 pm to adjust for the earlier dusk.

Parish Discernment Meeting: On February 3rd Rev. Margaret will be facilitating a parish discussion on the utilization of space. This will include visioning about future use of the Dane Chapel, the sacristy, the parlor, the parish hall and other interior spaces.

Adult Christian Education: The adult Christian education class is beginning a three week study of the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians. Please join us at 10:15 am Sunday morning January 27 – February 10.

Parish Potluck: January 27 we have the monthly parish potluck after the service.

Prayers for the Week

We pray for the men and women serving our country in the armed forces..

In accordance with the diocesan cycle of prayer we pray for St. Peter’s Church, Paris, the Rev. Christina Brannock-Wanter, Rector.

Ordination & Consecration: The Very Reverend William Douglas Hahn will be ordained as the seventh Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Christ Church Cathedral.  The Most Reverend Katherine Jefferts Schori will serve as Chief Consecrator.  Please make plans to attend this beautiful and holy service.

Pledge Drive: Remember that we will be collecting parish wide pledges today at the Offering.  Pledge cards are found in today’s service bulletin.  Please place your pledge to St. John’s for 2013 in the collection plate at the offering.

Prayers for the Week

Chocolate Fest:  A hearty Thank-you to the ladies of the ECW for the preparing the crafts and chocolate for yesterday’s Annual Christmas Bazaar.  Much hard work and fellowship led up to the successful event.

Annual Meeting: The Annual Meeting for St. John’s will take place within the Service of Holy Eucharist on Sunday, December 9th.  We will be electing Vestry members and Convention delegates for 2013.  We will also have a potluck meal following the service. Please make plans to attend this important day of celebration, fellowship and renewal as we look back on 2012 and forward to what 2013 may be calling us to as a Parish.

Thanksgiving Eucharist: A special Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 21 at 6:00pm. As an offering, items for the Food Pantry will be collected given in thanks to the Lord.

Chocolate Fest: The annual ECW Chocolate Fest will take place Saturday December 1st. Parishioners who are baking for the occasion can bring their creations to the parish hall on November 29th & 30th. Bring your friends and an appetite for wonderful chocolate treats and holiday crafts.

Vestry Members: Parishioners yearning to expand their ministry at St. John’s may be feeling a call to become a member of the vestry.  Vestry elections will be held at the Annual Meeting on December 9th.  Please speak with Margaret or Jeff if you would like to be a candidate.

Convention Delegate: The election of convention delegates for the Annual Diocesan Convention will take place at the Annual Meeting on December 9th.  Four deputies and four alternates are elected annually.  Deputies must be able to attend the full convention which usually runs from a Thursday afternoon through a Saturday morning in February.  Alternates are asked to attend if a deputy is unable to fulfill the obligation.

Wednesday Evening: Evening fellowship and prayer is available on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm.

Food Pantry: Please remember to bring non-perishable food items to the church for the Food Pantry.

Vestry Meeting: There is a vestry meeting immediately after the 11:00 am service.

Acolytes: There is an acolyte meeting October 21 immediately after the 11:00 am service.

Network Churches: Clergy and lay leaders in learning more about the Network Churches of the diocese are gathering at The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour Madison County on Sunday, October 21, at 3:00 pm.
