Don’t forget to bring a non-perishable food item in each hand to church this Sunday! Camille Ruddick has challenged us all to bring a canned food item in each hand every Sunday for God’s Pantry at Corbin Presbyterian Church. The collection basket has fallen into disuse, and she has encouraged us to recommit to helping keep it filled.

Based on data collected by Feeding America, Knox county currently has a food insecurity rate of 21.5%, which leaves 6,860 people in our county as living with food insecurity. Food insecurity is defined as a household lacking access to enough food for an active, healthy life for all members of the household. Persons living with food insecurity often need to choose between food, health care, housing, transportation to work, and other necessities. Compare our 21.5% rate with the nationwide rate of 14%, and the average Kentucky rate of 16.4%. There is a significant issue with food insecurity in Knox county, and we can help make a difference for these households.
